(WU) is now seeking applications for the 2007 entering class of K12 Clinical
Research Scholars (CR scholars). This program offers didactic training and
hands-on clinical research training and mentorship to fellows, post-docs,
and junior faculty committed to clinical research. Sponsored by the
NIH K12 Roadmap Initiative, these awards provide support for clinical research
and training for career development of scholars in diverse disciplines, including
but not limited to nursing, pharmacy, epidemiology, public health, physical
and occupational therapy, social work, biomedical engineering, psychology,
anthropology, biostatistics, and all fields of medicine.

K30
Clinical Research Curriculum Award (CRCA)
For
the purpose of this award, clinical research includes: patient-oriented research,
epidemiologic and behavioral studies, and outcomes or health services research.
The NIH defines patient-oriented research as research conducted with human
subjects (or on material of human origin such as tissues, specimens, and cognitive
phenomena) that requires direct interactions with human subjects. Patient-oriented
research includes study of the disease, therapeutic interventions, and clinical
trials. For updated information about the K30 award,
please see the NIH
Guide Notice of July 1, 2003
The
CRCA is a trans-NIH effort that is administered by the National
Center for Research Resources (NCRR) .
Its development is informed by the NIH
Roadmap for Biomedical Research and the Clinical
and Translational Science Awards Program .

Predoctoral
Interdisciplinary Clinical Research Training Program (PICRT)
The Predoctoral Interdisciplinary Clinical Research Training Program provides career development for medical and allied healthcare students through didactic coursework, mentored training, work-in-progress research discussions and journal clubs and conferences.
In September 2007, Washington University School of Medicine (WUSM) received a five-year, Clinical and Translational Science Award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) . One aim of this award is to promote clinical research training among predoctoral allied healthcare students, create an efficient entry for interested students into a variety of clinical research careers and allow flexibility to develop novel and unique programs.
To this end, Washington University
is offering the Predoctoral Interdisciplinary Clinical Research Training (PICRT)
Program to students in medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, biomedical
engineering, social work, pharmacy, and audiology and communication sciences,
who wish to pursue academic careers in clinical research.

Clinical and Translational Research Funding Programs
The Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences (ICTS) supports several internal grant funding programs promoting research in clinical and/or translational science to:
Encourage
interdisciplinary teams of investigators.
Promote interactions between clinical and basic scientists; between investigators
from different schools within
Washington University and our academic partners as well as different academic
departments and disciplines
Promote research by new investigators and junior faculty
Support collaborations with community organizations
BJHF-ICTS Funding ProgramThe Barnes-Jewish Hospital Foundation (BJHF) and the Washington University Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences (ICTS) have partnered to offer a joint Clinical and Translational Research Funding Program expected to award up to $1.4M per year for new projects. This initiative combines the former ICTS Pilot & Novel Methodologies Program and the BJHF Clinical/Translational Research Grant Program.
Annual call for proposals in two categories:Planning Grants: Provide up to $25,000 direct costs for 1 year to facilitate the planning of a new clinical or translational research project
Research Grants: Provide up to $100,000 direct costs per year for 1-2 years to support a clinical or translational research project.
Just-In-Time
Core Usage Program
Total
awarded services may not exceed $10,000 within a 12 month period.
Monthly
open call to provide quick access to funding to use the ICTS Cores for research
advancing medical knowledge that can improve human health.
Bander
Business Ethics in Medical Research Funding Program
Annual
call to promote innovative research that examines an ethical issue arising
from the business or financial dimension of medical research.
