Dr. Boyle earned his medical degree from the University of California,San Francisco, in 1977. He performed residency training at theUniversity of California, San Francisco, New York University and Columbia University-Presbyterian Medical Center. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Pharmacology at Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Boyle taught at Columbia University and the University of California at Davis before joining the Washington University faculty in 1987. Dr. Boyle's research focuses on vascular smooth muscle physiology and pharmacology.
Richard S. Hotchkiss, M.D.
Professor of Anesthesiology, Medicine and Surgery

Dr. Hotchkiss received his medical degree from the University of Virginia in 1976. He performed residencies at Massachusetts General Hospital and Emory University. He completed fellowships in intensive care and respiratory intensive care at the University of Virginia and Massachusetts General Hospital, respectively. Dr. Hotchkiss came to Washington University in 1987 after serving on the faculty of Emory University. Dr. Hotchkiss investigates mechanisms of cell injury and death in critical illness, particularly the role of lymphocytic apoptosis in both human studies and animal models of sepsis.
Alex S. Evers, M.D.
Dr. Evers is the Henry E. Mallinckrodt Professor and Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at Washington University School of Medicine.
Laureen Hill, M.D.
Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology
Dr. Hill received her medical degree from the University of California at Davis. After completing a surgical internship, she received her residency training in anesthesiology at Stanford University. She went on to complete fellowships in both cardiovascular anesthesia and critical care medicine, also at Stanford University, before joining the faculty there. Dr. Hill joined the faculty at Washington University in 2000 where her clinical practice includes cardiothoracic anesthesia and critical care. Dr. Hill is also the Medical Director of the Center for Preoperative Assessment & Planning.
Omokhaye Higo, M.D.
Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology
Dr. Higo performed residency training at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL. He did his fellowship training in critical care at Washington University School of Medicine. Following staff positions in Newfoundland, Canada and Charleston, West Virginia, Dr. Higo joined the faculty at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in 2001.
Eric Jacobsohn, MBChB, MHPE, FRCPC
Associate Professor of Anesthesiolgy and Surgery

Dr Jacobsohn graduated from the University of Cape Town Medical School in 1984. After an internship at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, he practiced as a rural general practioner in Canada until 1989. Then then did an Anesthesiology residency and Critical Care fellowship at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg (1989-1993), followed by Cardiac Anesthesiology/Critical Care at Mayo Clinic (1993-1994). After obtaining a Masters Degree in Medical Education, he directed the multidisciplinary Critical Care training program at the University of Manitoba until coming to Washington University in 2000. He has an active CTOR and ICU practice, teaches medical ethics in WU undergraduate program, and has several clinical reserch projects in ICU and CT anesthesia/surgery.
